Since we’re looking at this website as a bit of a portfolio. . .I would also like to include details and tidbits about things I worked on in the past.
And one of those was the very first website (to my knowledge) that was dedicated to 3rd-party iOS apps.
AppStoreApps.com
I was working at a local pizza buffet around the time when the first iPhone was released. So I was really trying to earn some extra money on the side.
I didn’t have a cellphone line at that time. . .which meant instead of getting the iPhone, I got an iPod Touch. and with that, I really got into the jailbreak scene.
If any of you remember, the first 3rd party app store for iOS was called Installer.app. So naturally, I jumped the gun and registered InstallerApps.com with the whole point of demonstrating the various 3rd-party apps that were being made for iOS.
It took off in popularity (especially for me at that time in my online career) so the moment I heard Steve Jobs mention the name of their store would be the App Store. . .I was quick to register AppStoreApps.com.
And I did the same thing there.
Demonstrating and reviewing apps that were made by 3rd-party developers. I really enjoyed the site and it helped to encourage me to learn more about PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and CSS. I already knew HTML from high school.
So this line of work really has enabled me to break free from the traditional 9-5 and work on things that I’m actually passionate about.
btw – I ended up selling those domains/websites a long time ago (sadly). but that money (both times) really helped get me to the next stage of my career.
